Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona has been named the American League Manager of the Year for 2013. In his first season with the team, Francona led the Indians to a 92-70 record in 2013; a 24 game improvement from 2012, when they won just 68 games. The Indians would go on to earn the top Wild card berth in the American League; thanks to a 10 game winning streak that was part of a 21-6 record in the month of September. However, they would lose the American League Wild Card playoff game to the Tampa Bay Rays. Prior to joining the Indians, Francona had spent seven seasons with the Boston Red Sox with whom he won two World Series championships in 2004 and 2007.
