Clint Eastwood has done it again bringing an energy to the war-is-hell scenes you wouldnt expect from a Director in this 80s and what I found to be a decent balance between the courage of the real-life character and the heartbreaking damage combat does both on the battlefield and long after. Despite some of the political posturing already arising on both sides, the audience I saw it with came out in a contemplative mood - this is more a wrenching than jingoistic experience, and a fitting rejoinder to Unforgiven.
