Close to the end of my 15 hour layover as I was walking to my gate, there was a group of Chinese travelers at the gate before mine. I overheard them talking and went up to them and said hello. As expected, people are usually surprised when I start conversing in their language. This young man had a camera exactly like mine so we indeed had something in common to share. He started showing me some of his photos from their trip to Russia. In one of his pictures I noticed something unusual about his hand. He then showed me the injury he sustained. He no fingers and only a thumb on his left hand. I hadnt noticed it when I approached him. He adapted very well to shooting a camera. This was rather peculiar to me as I had just come from the paralympics. It is all about people adapting to changes in life regardless of what comes our way. Juan Chan Lee was a happy guy and very eager to share his love of photography. I then let him try one of my lenses I had used in Sochi. As my vocabulary was running thin and my flight was getting near as well, I asked for a group photo and one with him as well. I made one last new friend before leaving Moscow. He was eager to give me his email and his phone number and wants me to come to China to visit someday. All the more reason to brush up on my language skills. Hope to see you soon my new friend.
