Closing event Serious Request ‘Jukumu Letu’ Last Saturday, a delegation of the Embassy attended the closing ceremony of this year’s Serious Request campaign. Theme of this 4-week campaign by Ghetto Radio 89.5 was the Kenyan 2010 constitution and what it means for marginalised youth in informal settlements. At Saturday’s event in Mathare (one of Nairobi’s slums) the Embassy’s First Secretary Political, Stijn Janssen, gave a speech explaining why the Embassy supports the campaign and what the value of the constitution is for young people. Through this campaign, we believe that many young people have become more aware of the constitution and how to claim their constitutional rights. While the event was the closing event for Serious Request, a 6 month project was launched on the same topic that will further engage young people throughout the country on the constitution.
