Clyde Moneyhun, professor in the Boise State English Department, is translating the work of contemporary Catalan poet Maria Mercè Marçal. Though she died of cancer in 1998 at age 45, she is emerging as one of the most important 20th-century poets in Europe. Moneyhun is working with Boise State art graduate Maria Garth to create an art exhibit that includes both the translated poetry and Garth’s photographs that are inspired by the poetry. They hope to exhibit the work in the coming months. Moneyhun also has created a reading series for next year titled “Found in Translation” that will feature readings by literary translators.
