Co-Mod Post: Im not exactly sure how were going to handle this, but its come to my attention that a certain individual is harvesting images from EC to use on her FB business page. Of course we all know that once an image is shared on FB, its fair game, but it is a bit disingenuous to use other folks images (in this case of their own creations) to flog your business. Especially when you give no credit whatsoever to the original poster and you get the information about what youre posting wrong. The party in question is not an EC Bee (as far as I can tell; if she were, shed be hearing from me) and shes been asked to take down the images which shes stolen to promote her business, but, really, seriously????? WTF? Were a very small and interconnected community and you just dont do s**t like that and expect to not get called out. Sharing images is something Im extremely guilty of. However, I always give a shout out to the originator and try to focus the attention back where it belongs. On the incredibly talented costumer or photographer who captured the image. Or to the person who weaseled out the delightful factoid. We learn by encouraging one another, loud and clear, and acknowledging others hard work. And I always try to check in with the party whom Im squealing about to make sure its okay. But simply appropriating someone elses hard work is just.not.kosher.
