CoD Pre-Submission Hearing in DLG... About 2 dozen people - TopicsExpress

CoD Pre-Submission Hearing in DLG... About 2 dozen people showed up for the City of Dillinghams Annexation Pre-Submission hearing last night. The first hour was spent listening to a Lawyer/Lobbyist and a Community Planner explain both the current process and the reasonings behind pursuing this action once again. So, heres the thoughts I jotted down during the first hour. I had to leave early and missed the public comments portion. According to literature passed out last night, the CoD will also accept Written Comments through the close of business today. There will also be a series of informational presentations, not hearings held in surrounding communities. I did find it interesting that the point was made that this was a procedural hurdle being performed and that the interaction with the participants would be kept to procedure. How much does this guy get paid to blather like this? October 2... Council Vote on whether or not to submit Annexation to the Alaska Local Boundary Commission. a more quicker process. . . CoD Lawyer/Lobbyist Brookes Chandler. Tacit Approval. inaccurate representation of the legislative process by City Attorney. Most of these actions are approved because they sit and they are rubber stamped through Tacit Approval. However, a legislator may call the petition to the floor. At this point, depending on which chamber a different process begins. Depending upon the issue, it may also get stamp voted or then sent to a committee. So Folks, dont let them fool you that once the LBC sends it to Juneau that it is a for gone conclusion. All I see and hear is $$$$$$$ floating around the attorney. Barb Shineberg... Community Planner. Touts coming to DLG for many years to advise on annexation and borough formation. So how much money has been spent on her and associated expenses for achieving what? Then she said she didnt understand why she had to do this again and her surly attitude really is off setting. main economic driver fishing? partial contribution on a new loader... what else? So... approximately $1.2M collected and I still cant figure out where it went. Anyone care to chime in in what the general consensus of public testimony was?
