Coastal Certificate - SoundGardening: Sustainable Landscaping for Clean Waters with Judy Preston in Madison Oct. 6, 8, 19, 20 & 22. The Coastal Certificate program is offered to those who wish to familiarize themselves with current environmental issues unique to our coastal waters and Long Island Sound, while learning ways to landscape more sustainably. The program is designed to generate ambassadors of alternatives to nutrient- and chemically intensive landscaping practices for CT coastal and watershed residents. The outreach component will be geared to spreading the word about sustainable landscaping through hands-on projects, educational materials and other creative ideas. Participants must attend all five classes and complete two approved outreach activities to receive the Coastal Certificate. Reading resources will be provided. $65/$75. Deadline Sept. 29. UConn Master Gardener classes are open to the public. Fee and registration required. To register, follow the directions in the Garden Master course catalog posted at ladybug.uconn.edu
