#Cognos folks: Yesterday, I had a problem where we couldnt CAST a string representation of a date in dd-Mmm-yy format that was coming from a #VirtualViewManager CSV file into a proper DATE. Problem turned out to be caused by the date pieces being in an order the VVM CAST function could not parse. Our solution was to use a series of CASE statements to break apart the date into its respective pieces - and then recombine them into a proper DATE column. A bit kludgey, but it was the only possible solution given all the constraints were working with. * Dhruv Mathur Trevor Kay * If anyone tells me I should use an #ETL tool to put this CSV data into a database, I will cut you.
