Cohesive Strategy - National and Regional update National Perspective: Of late, focus is on the development of the national trade-off analysis. The analysis explores policy choices related to five major fire management themes: 1) loss of fire resilient landscapes; 2) human caused ignitions; 3) the risk of wildfires damaging communities; 4) uneven response capacity; 5) and rising suppression costs. When complete, the analysis will be a comprehensive set of data rooted in county, state and federal datasets intended to provide a common environment and common goals to produce a trade-off tool to examine complementary outcomes. Regions: (Cohesive Strategy regions consist of the Northeast, Southeast, and Western U.S.) Regional Action Plans are complete. The plans document actions each region can pursue in the next five years. Generally, identified actions identify process improvements related to short-term success. Regions are also beginning the implementation phase. In some cases this looks like building on established partnerships, in others, introducing actions identified to potential partners. The national report is due in October. For more information, visit: forestsandrangelands.gov/strategy/index.shtm
