Collings & MVTF. The Collection just got Bigger.. America’s military heritage gains extraordinary new presence as Littlefield’s armor collection joins forces with TheCollings Foundation The Military Vehicle Technology Foundation (MVTF) and The Collings Foundation (CF) are proud to announce an unprecedented merger that creates an unparalleled collection of the finest armored fighting vehicles and military aircraft in America. The vehicle collection will become part of the Collings Foundation, but will retain the name of the Jacques M. Littlefield Collection The late Jacques Littlefield amassed the world’s largest private collection of armored fighting vehicles, located in Portola Valley, California, over a period of nearly 30 years. Mr. Littlefield also founded the MVTF, a not for profit 501(c)3 museum dedicated to the preservation of military vehicles for the purpose of presenting their technological advancements over the last century. Today, the MVTF has more than 270 vehicles on display or in storage. The Collings Foundation was created in 1979 to help preserve an important chapter of our nation’s heritage. The not-for-profit foundation now has more than 75 historic automobiles and 32 historic aircraft under its care. Since 1989, the CF “Wings of Freedom” tour has made more than 2,700 appearances nationwide, sharing with the American public the world’s only flying B-24 Liberator, a B-17 Flying Fortress and now a legendary P-51 Mustang. Additionally, the Foundation has the “Vietnam Memorial Flight” with the world’s only civilian owned and operated F-4 Phantom, TA-4 Skyhawk, F-100 Supersabre, UH-1 Huey, and A-1E Skyraider. Other aircraft continue to be acquired and prepared to join the national tour of the Collings Foundation. MVTF President/CEO Bill Boller stated, “This provides an exceptional opportunity to improve public awareness and national access to our most valuable and noteworthy assets through the world renown Collings Foundation. Combining our unique collection with the incredible aircraft and management of the Collings Foundation is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The ability to educate a new generation of Americans is significantly enhanced through this merger.” Collings Foundation Director Rob Collings stated, “We are overwhelmed at the opportunity to carry on the legacy of Jacques Littlefield and his incredible collection. It would be impossible today to duplicate the depth, diversity and quality of vehicles that is part of this collection.” The mission of the JML Collection as part of the Collings Foundation is to honor our nation’s veterans and to educate the public. The three pillars of the educational presentation will revolve around technology and the dramatic evolution of the fighting vehicles, their tactical role in combat and how combat armor had a strategic impact on world history and the lives and sacrifices of the crews who served within their steel hulls. Tax-deductible contributions can be made to the Collings Foundation, 137 Barton Rd. Stow, MA 01775 to support displaying and preserving the JML Collection and the mission to honor our nation’s veterans and educate generations to come.
