Colonization never ended. It just changed clothes. If you have seen the sprawling urban slums that were traded for subsistence village life outside of the globalized economy you too would begin to see that much of the narrative of development and progress (always measured in terms of the current state of Western Europe & North America - as if that is the yard stick intellectually, culturally, etc that all others are to be judged) is a self serving lie that allows us to feel good about maintaining a parasitic relationship with the planet and the rest of her darker inhabitants. Implicit in this narrative is the undeniable assumption that the rest of the world is but various failed attempts at being us. Now let us help you become more like we are. ~Baraka Blue
