Colossians 2:16- 23 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. 18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not[d] seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. 20 Therefore,[e] if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— 21 “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” 22 which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? 23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh. Beware of false teachings and false teachers. Know and understand Scripture, dont take it for granted. As the Bible says, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17 Pray and ask the Lord to show you the truth, and He will. V18 “Let no one cheat you”- Do you get caught up in false teachings? Like to hear the new wave stuff, which is actually old wave? It’s been around since Biblical times. Don’t let people steal your blessings by luring you into teachings of mystical silliness. 2 John 1:8- 11 “Taking delight in false humility”- False teachers were proud of their supposed humility, they love to display it; this is pride, which God hates. Proverb 6:16, 17 “Worship of angels”- This heresy plagued the area around Colossi for 300 years; it is strictly forbidden in the Scriptures. Matthew 4:10 Revelation 19:10, 22:8- 9 “Things which he has not seen”- Most false teachers and prophets claim to have visions and revelations; this is where most cults and false religions come from. Jesus is God’s final revelation to mankind, therefore their claims are false. Colossians 2:3,4 Hebrews 1:1-2 “Fleshly mind”- A person who has his mind set on satisfying the cravings of the flesh is spiritually dead. Ephesians 4:17- 19 V21- 23 Asceticism, self-neglect has no spiritual value. It cannot save you or keep you from sin. Most people who practice false humility only put on a public act of self-neglect. This is not pleasing to God; they are only fooling themselves. Matthew 6:16- 18
