Colsen Neff, age 2 1/2, will soon be undergoing his third open heart surgery. Colsen was born with HLHS, a congenital heart defect that causes the left side of his heart to be unable to function. As a result, he requires a series of surgeries to help the right side of his heart do double duty. Colsen was blessed to be able to have his first two major surgeries in Iowa City, which is near his home. However, his third surgery will have to be completed in Philadelphia, PA. Colsen, his mother, father, infant sister, and maternal grandmother will be traveling from Iowa to Pennsylvania in late March for his heart surgery. They are expected to remain in PA for several weeks while Colsen recovers. This, of course, means a great deal of expense in travel, lodging, food, necessities, and time absent from work. Friends of the family have created this page in hopes of helping the Neff family alleviate at least some of the financial stress stemming from this trip, so that they can devote all of their time and energy to supporting their little boy.
