Cherilus had been one of Indianapolis most consistent run blockers and pass protectors until dealing with a series of injuries. The most recent, a groin injury, ends Cherilus season and leaves a major hole on the offensive line heading into Sundays wild-card game. Indy (11-5) replaced Cherilus with Xavier Nixon at Dallas, then moved left guard Jack Mewhort to right tackle for the regular-season finale at Tennessee. Moving Mewhort also forced Indy to insert backup centre A.Q. Shipley at left guard.
