"Come from your knees to the sermon, and come from the sermon to your knees. The sermon does not prosper because it is not watered by prayers and tears, nor covered by meditation." (A Sure Guide to Heaven, by Joseph Alleine, pg 29). This is the duty of all the members of the church, and not just the duty of the ministers. This is why you need to prepare before worship on Sunday morning. To simply jump up out of bed and rush off to church and arrive just as it starts or to show up 10 or 15 min. after the start of worship is not spiritually healthful nor is it right. We must be in prayer and meditation before and after worship. Maybe that is why there is so little blessing in these days.
