Come rain or come shine, last night was also opening night at the Pioneer Days Rodeo in Clovis, NM. We started with a small scare as tornados sirens greeted our loyal rodeo fans but that soon passed and we were ready to rodeo. In bareback riding it was Shannon Miller who took the lead with an 82 on Girly Boy. Will Lowe though was not going to let him sit alone on the leader board, he hung on to Earthquake for 80 points. Jerad Green took the third spot with a 79 on Ice T. In the steer wrestling it was Jacon Sterkel who set a snappy time of 4.4 to take the lead. Justin Barhite also took a spot among the leaders with a time of 6.1 and Brandon Bates also made the leader board with a time of 10.3. In team roping there were only 3 who swung their ropes and caught their steer. Quisto Lopez and his partner Keagan Duncan set a time of 14.7 to take the go round money but hot on their heels was Seth Hall and Bruce Reidhead with a 14.8. In the saddle broncs it was Money Bag who took Dylan Henson to the top with an 81. Nick Laduke managed to dance the 8 seconds with Cat Daddy and turned in a 75. The broncs definitely had the upper hand tonight as only 3 managed to ride out the full 8 seconds, however tonight should have a much different outcome as the Cervi broncs dual again Taos Muncy, Chad Ferley, Cody Taton and Bryce Miller. Back down at the tie-down roping it was Trent Walls who had the quick and nimble time of 8.7 to take the lead. Seth Hall taking another second place with a 10 flat and Sterling Smith came in third with a 12.0. In women’s barrel racing the girls were turning and burning as fast as it could go. Fallon Taylor and Babyflo came out on top with a 16.81, but Mary Walker and Latte were on their tails with a 16.82 and the other NFR cowgirl Michele McLeod was not going to be left behind and turned in a 16.83. In the bulls it was a wild night of Do or Die! Taylor Toves covered Cactus Jungle for a grand total of 88 and set himself up for a great lead. Steve Woosley was also after the money and came up short with an 86 on Wolf. Chris Roundy also turned in a 82 on Modern Warfare for a fantastic night of bulls. Hope the other guys are ready to ride tonight because these guys set the bar high!
