Come to the Throne Posted: 05 Jun 2013 01:00 AM PDT “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:15, 16). Imagine being the child of a mighty king in ancient times. One day you get into serious trouble. Your needs are so great you cannot bear them yourself. What would you do? I think, without hesitation, you would go to the throne where your father sat and beg him to help you. And, being your father with the kingdom at his disposal, he would do everything he could to meet your needs. You do not have to imagine such a scenario when you are besieged by troubles, because in reality, you have access to the Intercessor, the High Priest, and the King of kings on His throne. You can come to the throne. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that the High Priest to whom we flee can sympathize with our weaknesses because He has been where we are; yet successfully overcame every temptation. His throne to which we come, is “the throne of grace”—that unmerited favor of God to sinners, not the throne of judgment. When we come to the throne of grace with our needs, He will grant mercy and “grace to help in time of need.” If you are in a time of need today, why not come to the throne? The Lord understands your pain, sympathizes with your failures, and will apply the soothing ointment of grace. [email protected]
