Comedy is the art of making someone laugh. Comedy usually consists of saying or doing something that another person will reject. Laughter is rejection. A person sees or hears something, rejects it, and laughs about it. All comedy, being based on rejection, has to do with something slightly illogical or slightly evil. If the subject gets too illogical or too evil the person will take it seriously and wont laugh, so judgement has to come into play. The main question then is How illogical or how evil does one have to be to create laughter without going over the line and creating seriousness? Different people like different degrees of evil. The degree of evil that it takes for some people to laugh is very low. A social blunder can make some people laugh and some people angry. There is a lot of judgement in the art of comedy. But it is mostly answered by the question How evil or illogical do I have to get to make this person laugh? Tickling can also make a person laugh. But again its because of rejection. The person being tickled is trying to reject it, just enough to make them laugh. Another aspect of laughter is that it releases painful emotion. If you were just to start laughing and continue laughing for no other reason than to release painful emotion you would find yourself slightly relieved from it. Sometimes its fun to laugh for no other reason than to release painful emotion.
