Coming into spring carnival and the Coalition For the Protection of Racehorses are at it again, protesting at anything and everything. This includes protesting at the Melbourne Cup parade, which is also known as the angry men shout pointlessly at families and children for no particular reason protest. When you go to the races and you see the same 10 people protesting, just remember the reason for the protest. It isnt to raise awareness, anyone who works in the racing industry knows that their claims are absurd nonsense. People who work in rehoming programs with actual real horses know the claims are absurd nonsense. The spring carnival pulls bumper crowds every year, regardless of how many facebook likes CPR manage to score. The main reason for these protests is simply to agitate, to try and get a reaction, and most importantly to try and get a reaction that is filmed so they can get on the news. So when you see them, ignore them. Pretend they dont exist. Dont acknowledge them in any way. When you see the poor unfortunate mad raving person on public transport on the way home you just block them out. Same goes for CPR.
