Coming to the end of 2 weeks here in Arviat, on Wed I start the 2 day trip home.No real excitement, I never did get to see a polar bear, although there is a mother and her cub around. The medicine is always interesting and I am always learning. You always have to keep the culture in mind, due to environment,and the living of the land this is a Feast or Famine mindset, as one nurse put it. So I did get reminded quite forward by a patient when we were discussing pretty significant issues,and I was wanting her to recognize reasonable change she could make, you white people you look at a big fancy clock to tell you when to eat, the way of the Inuit and what my parents taught me, was we eat when we are hungry!!! I do not have real interesting photos,but i thought i would take a photo of the biggest house in the Hamlet, it belongs to the Owner of Eskimo Point Lumber, he is originally from USA coming up here years ago to avoid the Draft. He has made his home here and seems to be a very well respected Business Man.If you focus in on the house see all the Antlers. Everyone has a Quad, brand new Quad first, then other priorities. so the photo of all the Quads in front of the Northern Store.the blue building is the health centre.I will post s few other photos when I get them ,
