Commemorating the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Vice-Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson - who, on the 21st October 1805, fell in the hour of victory over the combined French and Spanish fleets – a celebration gathering will be held at The Yardarm Taphouse’, Manly, (in Sydney, Australia) on Friday 17th October, at 8 bells in the forenoon watch. Breaking with the traditional seated celebration lunch, this year’s event will, once again, be a more informal – and less expensive - occasion. Providing an opportunity to meet with ones peers; renew old friendships and enjoy convivial discussion about diving - and possibly learn a little about obscure Naval traditions - the 209th Trafalgar Day Anniversary lunch will again feature the toast to ‘The Immortal Memory’ ... and the presentation of the Trafalgar Day Awards. While the entire afternoon will be self-funded, everyone attending will be asked to contribute $5.00 towards the cost of the trophies. An afternoon dedicated to the social side of diving, should you be interested in attending then, please, do let me know as soon as possible.
