Comment of the year right here: There is more cruelty in a glass of milk or dairy than a pound of beef. Being lacto/ovo-vegetarian is no different than choosing a hamburger over a chicken sandwich. The Dairy and Egg industries are directly related to the Meat and Leather industry. Remember that in order to continue lactating, a mammal must continue to have children. Dairy cows are forcibly impregnated and made to give birth at least once every year (they cant produce milk otherwise). their calves are seperated from them at birth and killed,sooner or later. The veal industry exists because OF the dairy industry; it is a by product of it. while female calves are replaced with their repeatedly impregnated and mutilated mothers who are sent to slaughter when they cant lactate huge amounts of milk or give birth any more. there is tremendous cruelty in eggs. in hatcheries, all male chicks are separated and killed by the egg industry simply because they cant lay eggs; either by tossing them into trash bags to suffocate or throwing them ALIVE into grinder machines. There are plenty of plant-based alternatives such as Soy milk, almond milk, nut milk, rice milk, coconut milk,etc. Tofu, egg-replacer and vinegar/vegan sauces, flax seeds, mushrooms,etc. that can be used instead of dairy or motherly milk, eggs and meat in anything imaginable: bakery, cheese, icecream, soups, burgers, nuggets, you name it. theres also a wide variety of vegan products and theres no recipe that cant be veganized!
