Powell said the rentals, on which he made improvements and now collects Section 8 vouchers for rent, were a help to the consolidated government. “I have enhanced the city of Augusta, as well as paying a substantial amount of taxes,” he said. A commission committee took no action on Powell’s request last week, so it was referred to the full commission for a vote Tuesday.
