Common Alternatives To Obedience. When people are asked to serve and obey God,they come up with nice -sounding alternatives to the perfect will of God. Eg. 1. Fulfilling Family Obligations: you must be ready to obey God at all times even if it means forsaking or denying your family. Luke 14:26. 2. Listening To Your Spouse: it isnt bad listening to them sometimes but when their advise is against Gods will what do you do? The two biggest problems of this world came about through men of authority listening to their wives rather than obeying God. Gen 3:17, Gen16:2. 3. Showing Compassion To People When Youre Not Lead To Do So: this is very dangerous it could land you in trouble if care is not taking. Joshua 11:21-22. No one is wiser or more compassionate than God. Joshua showed compassion at the wrong time which lead to him disobeying God. Years later this act bore fruits,these same cities he spared produce the worst enemies Israel ever encounter. i. Gath produced Goliath who fought against Israel- 1sam 17:4 ii. Gaza produced the harlot that destroyed Samson . Judges 16:1 iii. Ashod was the city that captured the ark of God and put it in the temple od dagon . 1 Sam 5:2. Living in Gods permissive will is not always palatable and most times goes along with grievous consequences. Lets always learn to live in Gods perfect will because it pays.
