Community Empowerment Message By 1 Happy Life: Alain & Danielle onelifeone The community you find yourself in is young bigger home. Whether you are aware of this or not, the community is flowing and will be flowing into your private home. There is no real privacy per say, because we are all connected by the power of survival. Our survival depends on our safety. However, safety is not a matter of creating a seclusive haven for oneself. Safety is a matter of a collective agreement to be sane and kind toward one another. True safety can never be achieved in isolation. You cannot protect yourself enough to avoid the unfortunate. Without you taking part in the vision of your community to ensure safety through preventive and curative actions, there cannot be a safe home for you. Noble men and women are concerned about their community just as they are about their health and the well-being of their loved ones. As you honor your community by maximizing the positive effort through affirmative actions and your words, you are making your home safe as well. Your small home finds its safety in the safety of the big home, which is your community. It starts with you seeking to bring about solutions and empowering others by recognizing small efforts. Criticism, bad mouthing, gossip, un-forgiveness, and scoffing are the viruses that slowly kill the beauty and the growth of a city. Such behaviors dont reflect the spirit of HUMANE which is the very essence of who we are. Your choice to live and be in your community must have more meaning than being a spectator. The community is a city and we are all part of it. Making it shine starts from the city that we are, individually. Yes! You are also a city. The moral, ethical, intellectual, and spiritual values that you have within you are the very stones we need you to bring to the edification of the community. You do not need a permission to be kind--though sometimes your comfort zone could make you believe so. There is something in us, HUMANS, which recognizes goodness when it sees it. So you do not need a permission to be kind. But you do need to give yourself the permission to step out of your comfort zone and reach out. If you fed a homeless, you have not done anything spectacular people need to clap for. You are being natural. If you helped build more shelters, or helped mentor youths within the community, you are not a super-human-being. Rather, you are being natural. Within the natural we see the ordinary, and within the ordinary the extraordinary manifests. This is not the virtue reserved for of a few. You are born to make others see the extraordinary in the ordinary--even by giving your seat to a handicapped person on the bus or on the train. There are so many ways to contribute. We are even looking for people to help with languages at the family center. Why? Because Brockton is cosmopolitan and we need to communicate the resources available to people in their language. You can volunteer for so many things here in Brockton. So go forth and make your community a better place to live! (Contact Brockton Family Center: 508-857-0272)
