Community Member Georgina Sande Needs Advice From Residents Living Along Densely Elm-Lined Streets: “We live on one of the most beautiful streets in St. Albert with a gorgeous cathedral of overhanging Elm trees. At our end of Flagstone Crescent, these Elm trees have been producing a very sticky substance, for a few years now, that appears to rain daily on our vehicles, walkways, grass etc. We take our cars to the car wash and the very next morning they are covered again with this sticky glue. My windshield washer cant even get it off entirely (wiper are slowed as they smear the goo) and this morning even my drivers door was hesitant to open, it was gummed up that much! I was told at one time that it was aphids but Id like to know if anyone else is experiencing this further down our Crescent or in other Elm treed areas of St. Albert?? What can be done about it, if anything? Lots of water wasted and $$ spent washing our cars. Thanks for any feedback.”
