Community Organiser World Agroforestry Centre – Vietnam Office Recruiting a Community Organiser based in Ha Tinh province, Vietnam. The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is one of a network of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). As a global leader in agroforestry research and development, ICRAF’s ultimate purpose is to improve human welfare by reducing poverty, increasing cash income, improving food and nutritional security, and increasing environmental resilience through improved agroforestry systems. ICRAF has its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and works in 21 countries throughout Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Position The Community Organizer Officer will be focal point work between local partners and ICRAF Viet Nam with Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) Climate-Smart Village in Ky Anh district, responsible for logistical preparations, organise meetings with local authorities, mass organisations, extension, and farmers. Workstation is based in Ky Anh district. Duties and Responsibilities The Community Organizer will be the primary contact person between local partners, ICRAF Viet Nam and CCAFS, responsible for a. Organising meetings with farmers, extension, government officials at village, commune and district levels b. Establishing and maintaining effective partnership with local stakeholders c. Collaborating with researcher and project officers in basic research activities, including situational analysis, baseline surveys and needs assessments d. Documenting field activities, progress reports e. Making logistical arrangements as required f. Assisting in developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems for the project activities g. Conducting household surveys Qualifications and Skills Required: Must be a Vietnamese national Bachelor degree in social, agriculture/environmental science, economics or related discipline At least 3-year experience in research and/or rural development Experience with project management, budgeting, extension and participatory methods, working with international organizations are all meriting Excellent command of written and spoken Vietnamese, English communication skills are desired. Knowledge of ethnic languages is an advantage Knowledge about sustainable agriculture and climate change is a merit Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in multicultural teams Self-directed; well organized; flexible Able to manage a range of activities to deadlines Able to generate creative, practical approaches to overcome challenging situations Microsoft Word package Proven negotiation skills, writing and documentation competencies Willingness to undertake frequent travel Terms of offer This is a Nationally Professional Fixed Term position with a competitive salary and benefits package. The contract is for a period of 1 (one) year, with high possibility of renewal, subject to 3 (three) month probation period, assessment of performance and availability of resources.
