Companies & Investments Italy’s Ferrero launches in Myanmar Italian Chocolatier Ferrero will begin exporting its products and distributing them locally after being granted permission by the Myanmar Investment Commission. The move was officially announced at a ceremony on July 15 when Marcello Gallo was appointed new sales representative. Premium Distribution Company and Pahtama Group in Myanmar have also been appointed as formal company representatives of Ferrero. Ferrero already has a pres-ence in Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, and the Philippines. The group is confident that entering the Myanmar market will be a strategic move, in line with its goals to further its international branding. Ferrero’s products had initially been sold in Myanmar in the past but customers did not find the products to be hugely different from other locally sold products. In the past, Ferrero products had been imported from neighbors such as China and Thailand rather than directly from its manufacturing home in Europe. It is predicted that Ferrero will receive a decent starting price as many local newspapers have been helping to promote sales by advertising that Myanmar citizens will now have the chance to taste genuine Italian chocolate. Ferrero is an Italian based global brand which produces Ferrero Rocher, Pocket Coffee, Mon Cheri, Giotto, Tic Tac breath mints, and Nutella chocolate spread.
