Companies turn to cost cuts as slow growth persists. Two-thirds of companies around the world want to reduce overhead by 10% in the next year or two, and a third want cost cuts of 11% to 20%, according to a survey from AlixPartners, the CFOJ’s John Kester reports. Executives feel they can’t rely on sales alone to sufficiently increase profits in a low-growth economy, and they are reluctant to forecast profit growth based on their cost-cutting initiatives.
