Job Description: Job Title: R&D Technician Knowlton Technologies is seeking a qualified R&D Technician. JOB SUMMARY: Follows instructions/ direction of the R&D Manager. Performs tests, makes and saturates hand sheets, makes prototype and other technical observations. Is responsible at the in-plant level to carry out R&D assignments, equipment evaluation, PDR product development, and trial activities from bench evaluation activities through pilot runs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Provides assistance to production paper machines on new development grades and problems with existing grades. Evaluates new materials and equipment to provide cost reduction options. Follow all safety and environmental requirements. Record and date all R&D data. Maintain a clean work area. Acquire training for all testing, hand sheet, hand saturation, dyno and filtration testing, i.e. cross functionally trained. Become familiar with all raw materials, grades, and operations to be qualified for promotions if a need arises. Support R&D development efforts. Take corrective and preventative actions in his/ her area. Enforces safety and housekeeping rules. Ability to manage and run the pilot. Responsible to put in work orders and safety work orders for the department. Input MSDSs into the mill system. Spare Facilitator when required.
