Concerned with the corporate use of the black body as logo, this video is a meditation on the implicit and explicit fear of the muscular male black body. The use of the monochromatic video format functions to further empty the body of any historical construct, while exploring the space of ritual created on the basketball court, urban streets, and fields simultaneous create a paradox while giving the viewer a sense of perpetual movement. The tension between lines in the street, race, class, identity, blackness, and whiteness, in effect, is suggested through the symbolic pulling of the each colored rope.
