Concerns about odors, water table safety, property values and possible road changes to accommodate increased truck traffic on roads already used by school buses were among the issues raised by residents at the July 22 hearing. Local neighbors also were not informed by county officials about the plans in advance of permits being approved last fall because chicken houses are covered by agricultural land use statutes and do not require public hearings, according to a report on the Delaware State News website.
