Ghani Dotani Khan-e-Shaheed spent 33 years in both British and Pakistani jails. His only crime was that he wanted, (a) to force the British occupiers to quit Pashtoonkhwa watan and India; (b) to have federal parliamentary democracy in Pakistan; and (c) to create for Pashtoons of Pakistan an autonomous united province, from Bolan to Chitral. Masar Mehmood Khan had to see the tragedy of his aged father being martyred. On 7th Oct. 1983, Masar was attacked by Zia Martial Law forces. He fortunately escaped unhurt but four of his workers and relatives got martyred and scores other were injured. Masar was forced to live an underground life for over five years. And then, ISI unleashed Ghabizai tribe against Masar, his family and party which resulted in the martyrdom of over 100 relatives and workers of Masar. A life attempt was made on Masar’s life in 1996 when a landmine exploded near his car when he was on his way to Gulistan. Luckily Masar remained unhurt. By mentioning all this is to establish that Khan-e-Shaheed and Masar’s family has suffered a lot for Pashtoon cause. So it is understandable that party (not Masar or his family) has nominated Mohammad Khan Achakzai for the post of governorship of Pashtoon-Baloch province. However, Mohammad Khan Achakzai’s only qualification to be nominated for this post is not only that he is Khan-e-Shaheed’s son, but also because he has had one of the most distinguished career: he retired in grade 22 as Chief Economist; he has been a man of principle and has never done any sort of corruption or committed any kind of favouritism or nepotism; he has vast experience in economic and management fields which he can utilize for the good of the people of our province. Besides, he will keep a vigilant watch on party ministers and MPAs and would never allow them to resort to any kind of corruption or other irregularities. Last but not least, he will be acceptable to all nations and political parties in the province as he has always remained somewhat apolitical and hence will not be regarded as PMAP’s loyal.
