Conference of Geographical information systems (GIS) and achievement of sustainable development University of Tripoli – Faculty of Arts- Department of Geography corresponding to 14/15/16 /1/ 2014 Introduction : The third millennium carried global geographical changes in different aspects of life and rapid development has become a feature of these times. Decision makers at all levels have become precisely following up developments and changes locally and internationally. This issue have become clear enough in the changes of the policies of private and public establishment form time to time , and the prominent of these establishment are the national and government universities. This geographical conference attains an international dimension because it is the point of view of geography and use its techniques to achieve sustainable development. It is expected that this conference will show the role of geography in sustainable development for the benefit of all humanity, and explains the extent of attention which geography scholars have in comprehending what is going on around them of natural and human changes nowadays and it supports the group and intellectual channels of communications among the geographic scholars and others in different places of the globe . The objectives of the scientific meeting : - confirmation of the fact that geography science plays an important role in adopting the developmental thought that is required locally and internationally. - Highlighting the important role of modern technologies in the expansion of developmental geographical studies in precise analysis to reach one single language of understanding that comprehended by decision makers . - Substantiation of mutual relationships between the different sciences in the process of sustainable development . - Knowledge of the requirements of the social and human sciences form the modern technologies and new programs and expanding it . - Knowing the challenges facing application and use of the available technologies in the sections and research centers and the way to avoid it . - Informing the participants for the latest technologies and the best way to use it to achieve the goals of developmental studies . - Foreseeing the future of the global changes and the proposal to face it . Topics of the conference : The first topic: 1- The use of the geographical information system in the study of natural resources . 2- Application of digital geography and remote sensing to evaluate environmental studies . 3- Use of geographical information systems and remote sensing to measure indicators of climate changes and air pollution . 4- Use of remote sensing to determine the zones of hunting, agriculture and study of regions . 5- Study of environmental regions using remote sensing and geographical information systems. 6- Application of remote sensing and geographical information systems to study water basins . 7- Use of geographical information systems to measure indicators of sustainable development . The second topic : 1- Use of geographical information systems in the field of regional and urban planning . 2- Application of geographical information systems in the field of infrastructure and transport networks . 3- Preparing thematic maps using remote sensing and geographical information systems. 4- Using digital geographical possibilities in the study of mining and industrial endemism. 5- Digital geography and sources of energy. 6- application of geographical information systems and remote sensing in renewable energies (winds, sun, water ) The third topic: 1- Problems of environment and urban growth. 2- Population changes. 3- Tourism industry and its role in national economy. 4- Industrial endemism and concentration. 5- Climate changes and its environmental effects. 6- Sources of new and renewable energies . Who were invited to participate : 1. Researchers and experts in the related fields of the conference. 2. The American association for geographical information systems . 3. Members of the teaching staff of universities and high institutes and different educational organizations . 4. Bodies related to affairs of development , environment and geographical information systems . 5. Specialized centers such as : survey authority, public corporation of environment, the Libyan remote sensing center, aerospace sciences and different other specialized bodies . 6. Afro- Arab organization of environment , water and desert researches. General information : 1. Participation form and summary of researches should be sent to the preparatory committee prior to 15.11.2013 attaching to it the curriculum vitae of the participants . 2. Researches should be completely offered in classical arabic in a clear handwriting attached to it summary of researches within the limits of four hundreds words(400 words) installed on a CD-ROM or floppy no later than 30/11/2013 . 3. The work should conform to the methodological requirements of the scientific research and should be enclosed to it sources and references and never published before. . Specification of summaries:- The summary should not be less than two page including the following mythological factors:- 1- Idea of the research . 2- Methodology. 3- The most important results . 4- The indicative scientific terminologies. 5- Reference to the scientific topic. Specifications of researches : 1- The research should not exceed twenty pages including all shapes , graphics , and photos maps. 2- The research includes the following methodology: "summary of the research-indicative words- introduction, the research approach- the research objectives , recommendations ,references and sources. 3- The research should be written on word program in a simplified arabic of size 16. 4- Tables, shapes and photos in its final from. 5- Maps and photos were colored and its original place . 6- Power point file should be attached to the research for submitting. 7- Should not be accepted any research which is not compatible to the conditions of the competitions, unaccepted research should not be returned to its authors, and they are not entitled to claim them . Specifications of presentations of researches during the sessions of the conference : Au researches should presented using power point where all related devices are available. Important dates:- - The last date for the receipt of researches is 15 November 2013. - The last date for the delivery of the complete researches is 30 November 2013. - The actual registration in the conference is on 14 January 2014 . The conference program: - Specialized lectures should delivered by specialist in the technologies of modern geography scientific sessions according to the topics of the conference Subscription fees : - Participants form within Libya (400 LD) - Participant outside Libya (400$) It includes residence and subsistence and fees of participation in all sessions of the conference and obtainment of all papers and publications of the conference an participation in the leisure trip.
