Conference on International Cooperation held under EU Border Management programme Within the framework of the EU-funded programme Developing National Capability for Integrated Border Management in Lebanon (IBM Lebanon) being implemented by the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), a two-day conference took place addressing the international cooperation pillar in the field of Integrated Border Management (IBM). The conference brought together leading international actors in the field with counterparts in Lebanon, including the Directorate General of General Security, the Lebanese Customs Administration, Internal Security Forces and other local stakeholders. The conference was launched with the words of H.E. Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon. Ambassador Eichhorst reiterated the importance of the IBM Lebanon project in creating synergies among like-minded institutions within Lebanon and between Lebanon and the international community, especially the EU Member States. She highlighted the EUs understanding of the challenges that Lebanon continues to face in absorbing the effects of regional instabilities, and reaffirmed the commitment of the EU in continuing to work with Lebanon in addressing such challenges. The conference comprised key presentations by specialised international agencies and entities, and was concluded with a presentation on the dynamics of international cooperation in the framework of EU-funded IBM projects, delivered by ICMPDs Senior Programme Manager for Border Management.
