Confession: I didnt see the first installment of Think Like A Man - TopicsExpress

Confession: I didnt see the first installment of Think Like A Man because I didnt accept the principle or understand the concept. It (this concept) also seemed to be a requirement only in our community. The message is if you want to land a Black man, you have to think like a Black man. It also implies that you have to play games, over-think everything, and use trickery to earn respect from a Black Man. Maybe this is the case in many situations, Im just not cynical enough to believe this or adopt that philosophy. You get with someone, you find out they are playing games or arent genuine in some way, you move on. You dont become that game - playing, phony individual. I probably should have just paid to see it to support Black Film and artists but something felt really off about it. Im often torn between supporting Black Arts or not supporting a particular project because I dont appreciate the stereotypes that it may be reinforcing. Ill just buy the DVD set for my library to deal with that guilt when its released. I also dont pay to see non - Black romantic comedies. It could just be the genre.
