Confession time: This romance author used to shun the reading of romance! What?! Thats right! My main reads were legal thrillers (John Grisham), mystery (Nancy Drew), psychological thrillers (Stephen King), etc. I pretty much read everything EXCEPT romance. Then I read a PT by the incomparable Iris Johansen (Ugly Duckling--still one of my faves), so I picked up the rest of her books and got to one named the Magnificent Rogue. Mmm...I opened it and was like...WTF?! *stuck my nose in the air* I dont do romance. Well, I didnt have anything else to read it was Sunday night and everything was closed on the military base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and I HAVE to read. I dont watch much TV, etc., so I bit the bullet and opened it up and read with one eye closed, surely I was going to loathe it! Nuh uh! I was sucked into this historical romance that was SO much more. It was history, intrigue, action, adventure with a gut-wrenching, fabulously written love story. I. Was. Sunk! And thats what romance is to me now--it encompasses everything.
