Confirmed: Opposition Spokesman on Justice and Justice Reform, Sen. Alexander Williams questioned the government’s wisdom in pressing forward with the present Terms of Reference of the Commission of Inquiry into the Tivoli Gardens Incursion, given the exorbitant costs to do so. In a press release issued today he stated, “We are all well aware of the tight financial constraints that the country faces at this time, yet we note that the Government’s decision to embark upon an inquiry at this time, clearly will only incur significant expense and cost.” He went on to point out that: ‘Given the fact that an interim report and other processes are still available to answer the central questions posed in the enquiry, we must ask ourselves as a nation whether the decision to have the inquiry was ever a prudent one.’
