Congrats to everyone in your effort to help re-unite pets in the area. In the past two weeks weve seen quite a few happy tail endings and a handful that have found their way into rescue legally. Unfortunately weve also seen an increase in the number of misinformed posts regarding Char-Meck Animal Control and county laws regarding stray pets. Our number one reason for running this group is to re-unite pets with their families. It is not to rehome these animals. Both of your admins here have fostered for trusted rescue groups and both here have adopted rescue dogs. We believe in rescue work and encourage you all to contribute to it as well if you are able. However, when finding a stray dog we ask that assumptions not be made that this dog needs rescued from its legal owner. Please give these owners and pets a chance to find one another again by following county laws and working with Char Meck Animal Control to re-unite them. We are very fortunate in Mecklenburg county to have an animal control department and facility that is well-funded, clean, and run by animal lovers. The front desk recommends this very group as a source for finding a lost pet. Thats right, they believe in you. Lets afford them a bit of trust in return to do their jobs and work with them in our similar mission.
