Congratulations Game of Thrones with the 20, yes, 20 Emmy - TopicsExpress

Congratulations Game of Thrones with the 20, yes, 20 Emmy nominations! Here are some important breakdown: Best supporting actor: Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) With his astounding speech I would be surprised if he hadnt got nominated. Peter has done great works with the character but Season 4 is the high point of Tyrion. The last Emmy Peter got as Tyrion shows his amazing comic timing and liveliness with suppressed bitterness. This Emmy would prove his range and his prowess as a dramatic actor when pushed to extreme. To sum up, a well-deserved nomination Best supporting actress: Lena Headey (Cersei) Its common knowledge that I have a soft spot for Cersei, and obviously Im happy for her to be nominated. But it is a still a surprise that such a widely hated character (not as universally hated as her son and yep, the family is that screwed up) got nominated. And while Peter is an obvious choice for Tyrion (the only cast member that the author DEMANDED), Lena has brought subtleties and diluted the viciousness of Book!Cersei. While Lena is certainly capable, her Cersei didnt shine at the beginning unlike Peters Tyrion. She gradually stepped up the game and thoroughly owned the spotlight in Blackwater but she didnt get nominated for that. So why now? Even though she only has slightly more screen time than Season 3, shes been through a rides that demonstrated her emotional spectrum and more importantly, lived up a bit of her viciousness. BUT I actually partly hoped she would lose. Her ride is certainly not smooth (a certain controversial scene comes to mind). And her dramatic high point doesnt come until later (her juicy dynamic with Marg and a certain stroll comes to mind). It doesnt mean she doesnt deserve the Emmy, but Im sure, with Tyrion goes all mopey next season, Cersei will truly shine. I just dont want her future amazing work will not get recognised because if she gets an Emmy this year. P.S. This breakdown actually only focuses on the Lannister children. Well I have a soft spot for dysfunctional, murderous family members. Anyway GoT well done! Cant wait for the next season!
