Congratulations Jacqui Lambie for standing up and putting forward a brilliant idea to assist with a Centrelink crisis. Long term unemployment can have a huge effect on an individuals self esteem. Then there are the people who simply DONT Want to work. Anyone who thinks they dont exist - youre kidding yourselves. There are some people who have never had a job so having the opportunity to learn new skills will help their chances to do that. I dont know that 12 months is long enough? 2 years would ensure they learn the skills then master the skills plus be paid a decent wage, be fed, have too medical cover (the flow on effect of that alone would allow people who cant usually afford dental care, eye care etc to access important health facilities). For the people who dont want to work or who have never worked, it would be good discipline and perhaps even rewarding. The hardworking tax payers dollars will then be spent on resources that will benefit our country - what a brilliant concept. For people who have concerns over being deployed for active duty - why not fight for our awesome country? Who wouldnt want to save our loved ones and keep them safe? This would also assist in our drug problem. Were in the middle of an ice epidemic and this would be a great way for people to regain control of their lives and get clean. Military Rehabilitation - another great concept. I love it Jacqui Lambie and Id even stretch it further and have repeat offenders in the judicial system have to do compulsory military service to relieve the strain on our prison systems. This idea just keeps getting better.
