Congratulations to Grove City College history professor Dr. Mark Graham! His textbook Ancient Empires: From Mesopotamia to the Rise of Islam (Cambridge University Press, 2011) has recently been translated in Portuguese as Impérios Antigos: Da Mesopotâmia à Origem do Islã, trans. Gertulio Schanoski, Jr. (São Paulo: Madras, 2013). Dr. Graham’s book has received outstanding reviews from scholars and is being used in history courses at various American universities as well as in a history survey course at University College London and at King’s College London in a comparative empires seminar. Dr. Thomas Burns of Emory University declares in Ancient History Bulletin that “Ancient Empires challenges the reader to think on a scale that is seldom found today in academic books . . . [and] should assist academic readers, in general not just specialists in the ancient world, in posing better questions in their own work.”
