Congratulations to a great friend and my brother, Doug Steslow, on his acceptance to Grad School! You GEAUX, man! Heres my official recommendation letter for Doug. I highly recommend Doug STESLOW as a candidate for graduate school. I have known Doug since our sophomore year in high school. Weve shared so much in the past three decades plus a mere page in print would not begin to capture the reasons why I know Doug would be an excellent graduate student. To me, Doug is a friend, a college roommate, a brother, an employee, a business partner and a protege and a mentor. He is all these things to me, though, because he is a writer. It takes one to know one. I have so many stories to tell about Doug, about Doug and I, stories that involve the two of us and stories about just Doug. But thats not the point here. The real point is there are so many stories twined inside Doug that he must tell. I want you to help him tell them. Doug is the most sincerely good person I know. His heart belongs to writing. It always has and it always will. He would not be seeking to study the soul men and women have poured before him in your literature curriculum through mere compulsion. Doug is seeking, rather, to unwind within the progress of his study the mastery of that unique peace that we know comes through the wrenching private torment one must endure to earn the right to share purity with those who would seek to know the pain of wisdom gained through mans only real genius - storytelling. Literature is now Dougs aperture, the treatment he not only desires but deserves at this important point in his life as a storyteller. Accept Doug. I encourage you to do so today so that quite simply there will be a better tomorrow.
