Congratulations to the winner of the September Monthly: Dan - TopicsExpress

Congratulations to the winner of the September Monthly: Dan Constant. We had a full 50% of the possible entrants on 6 tables taking their shot at the big prizepool. With the new starting stack of 10k and well over a half million in chips in play, there was plenty of real poker being played right from the beginning. There can be only one, and that meant that 54 would have to settle for less that glory. The first casually came fairly early in the form of Dan Guerrero who, having been part of a carpool, knew that he would be in for a long afternoon of listening to poker and watching football. It took til the first break to break down the first table, and averaged around half an hour for each successive table after that. So, by the time we got to final table, the blinds vs. stacks ratios were pretty low, so there was no overwhelming chip leader or short stack. Each player had between 25-50BB and it was anyones game to win. The Final Table was played at 9-handed and the first to fall was John Lemonds who, despite winning the button, lost the first hand and was gone. Next to go was the Man Who Just Wont Smile; Ben Grumpy Taylor followed by Mr. Hotstreak, Wally Dew. Im not sure if Richie Krawiec lost a big hand or was just busy standing 6 away from the table and got blinded out. Jade Harris probably had something suited and/or connected, as she had most of the day, but the last one, was the last one. Lacy Maci likely had the most poker experience of the final four, but not enough debate experience to convince the others to chop and was sent all the way home with not much more than a good time. Stephen Henderson certainly had the most life experience, but not enough luck to run his stack back up but was consoled with some prize money and a very nice finish added to his record. Aries Adriano had a pretty big deficit to overcome before there could be any re-opening of a chop discussion. There was some back and forth, but the gravitational pull of the big stack eventually sucked in his chips and he was resigned to be labeled the Best Loser or Almost Winner or whatever that bumpersticker said. Big Daddy Dan Constant was not willing to share the 1st place prize, but more than eager to share the spotlight with the lovely Michelle and Aries. A BIG HUGE thank you to Del Rio Mexican Grill for hosting this one and expecially to ALLLLLLL of the dealers who volunteered to make sure this could happen. Wally Dew, Michael Brown, DanG, David Stout, Stephen Henderson, John Lemonds, Maci, Kimberly Marie Brown, Alec Johnson, Duane Kilgus, Jarome Dowdy, and especially Greg Mackey for jumping in to finish the Final Table so I could set up for the evening game.
