Congress mandated that NASA’s new Space Launch System must use - TopicsExpress

Congress mandated that NASA’s new Space Launch System must use Space Shuttle Main Engines (RS-25 ), one which fired successfully for 500 seconds at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi on Jan. 9th, 2015. This rocket engine design, built by Aerojet Rocketdyne, has garnered a reputation for reliability. If you advance to the 3:40 min mark in this vid you will see the rocket motor from the underside view.....the velocity of the exhaust is so great that it sucks surrounding air into the exhaust stream created by the rocket.....you couldnt stand where the camera is for two reasons. One the heat given off by the rocket is about a third that of the surface of the sun and the vacuum created by the exhaust would suck you into the exhaust stream....as it is doing to the vapor visible around the sides of the rocket motor..... https://youtube/watch?v=nD0Dp7jjR2I
