Congressional Leaders at NUESTRO FUTURO Reps. Raul Ruiz, Michelle Lujan Grisham and Joaquin Castro have been invited to attend the fourth annual Latino Education Conference in Washington, DC on Wednesday, October 23. On October 23, 2013, LATINO Magazine will convene NUESTRO FUTURO, the 2013 Latino Education Conference. The fourth annual event will bring together academia, government, corporate America and Latino nonprofits. Its objective is to increase the number of Latinos seeking careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Invited guests include rising political stars Reps. Raul Ruiz, Michelle Lujan Grisham and Joaquin Castro, appearing on the cover of the current issue. Theyll be participating in a STEM roundtable at the luncheon at 12-2 PM moderated by LATINO publisher Alfredo Estrada. Other panelists and speakers will include Alejandra Ceja, Dept. of Education; Esther Aguilera, CHCI; Maria Cardona, Dewey Square; Sid Espinosa, former mayor of Palo Alto; Irasema Salcido, Cesar Chavez School; and Tony Tijerino, HHF America needs more engineers to compete globally, and the goal of NUESTRO FUTURO is encouraging our young people to enter the STEM fields, said Estrada. The theme of this years conference is how to spread the word about STEM to the Latino community through outreach. NUESTRO FUTURO begins with a registration breakfast at 8 AM on Wednesday, October 23 at the Capital Hilton, 1001 16th St. NW, in downtown Washington, DC. Attendees will hear distinguished keynote speakers and join in roundtable discussions with noted experts. There will be a complimentary luncheon and the conference will end promptly at 2:00 PM.
