Koirala, who had contested the fray against senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, garnered 105 votes. Opponent Deuba got altogether 89 votes. The voting was conducted at NC’s PP office in Singhadurbar premises this morning. Koirala, who was supported by leader Ram Chandra Paudel, will now be the prime ministerial candidate. Earlier, all three leaders – Koirala, Deuba and Paudel – had been vying for the PP leadership. After Koirala reportedly pledged Paudel to hand him the leadership of the party, the latter had pulled out from the race, deciding to back Koirala in the elections.
