Considering I have been an advocate for Unemployed Older Workers for the last six years, I am hoping the upcoming election will include strategies and support programs that address the issues facing one of Miramichis most vulnerable priority groups. The world of work has changed forever due to globalization and technology, leaving our older workers behind. I trust we all know someone, whether it be a neighbor, family member or friend who wants to work however; finds it challenging to enter the labour market. The Targeted Initiative for Older Workers has assisted many in our communities during the last six years; offering new opportunities and support to those who want to work. To all our electoral candidates, please dont forget to include the older worker in your platforms because our older workers are too depending on you!
