Considering the frequency with which we discuss religion in the media and in politics, the level of ignorance with which some people still feel comfortable having these discussions is appalling. This clip is a striking example of the lack of a basic understanding of religion in the world. This ignorance is comparable to those who fear vaccines despite the plentiful scientific evidence, and refuse to become scientifically literate enough to discuss or even understand the topic. There are too many people in this nation who are similarly so illiterate when it comes to understanding religion that they feel comfortable making sweeping generalizations and assumptions without any factual basis.
